Get to know me!

Hello! My name is Sara Kallio

I am currently an interior architecture student at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. I plan to continue my education and pursue a masters historic preservation. I dream to preserve the history and character of historic buildings, keeping their memories alive and enhance the community's understanding of historical, architectural, and cultural concepts. My overall design goal is to be able to create aesthetically pleasing, functional, accessible, and educational spaces that are effective in improving one's lifestyle and mental health.

Fun Fact about me!

I consider myself to be a collector. I collect shells from the beach, artwork, antique furniture and decor, snow globes, clothes, photographs, and more. I don't call it accumulating or hoarding. I store memories, mine and others. Being a collector means I am passionate, enthusiastic, curious, and personal. I believe being a collector goes beyond the possession of the material items. It involves emotional connections, self-expression, and the joy of discovery and remembrance. I see value, inspiration, history, and learning opportunities in "ordinary" objects that I think can influence my design concepts.
