Year 2 Semester 2

"Community"

This studio collaborated with Centro Hispano, an organization that aids, educates, and inspires the Latino community in Knoxville. In order for this organization to grow, the center needed to relocate into a bigger space. 611 N Central St. is an abandoned warehouse located in Old City, Knoxville. After creating research precedents as a studio and brainstorming individual design strategies, I designed the warehouse to accommodate the needs and wants of Centro Hispano integrating sustainable living, office spaces and meeting rooms, a cafe, a community outdoor space, classrooms, a space for celebration, etc. The two main areas I focused on in the design are the cafe and “living room”/ lobby, which were designed to appease the client's aesthetic.
